YAYAYAYAYACHRISTMAS!

I LOVE CHRISTMAS.

It's my number two holiday, right behind Mardi Gras.

MKR helped me heft large rubbermaid tubs marked "Easter" and "Halloween" to the shed this past weekend.

"I can't believe you have this many decorations?" she remarked.

"Really? YOU can't believe I have this many decorations?" I quipped back.

I come from a long line of decorators-for-every-season. It's in the genes, folks.

I spent the weekend with my blinders on, mom helping, to unpack and clean and organize and at one point I thought we would actually be able to vacuum and then suddenly mom had to leave and I looked around and...well...

I have a home.

I hooked up the washer and dryer, by myself, and changed the dryer cord from four-prong to three-prong (thank you lumberjack Matt at Home Depot). I washed all the windows. I swept. I took a shower. I poured a glass of wine and...

I unpacked Christmas.

All three nativity scenes (one from Grandma, one from Mexico, one from mom).

I reworked my wreaths (buy one get two free ribbon at Michaels).

I strung the lights on the tree and decorated the top two-thirds with glass ornaments. And then I left an appropriate amount of shatter proof ornaments beneath the tree for a special little someone who likes to hang them and arrange them and select his favorite.

Ladies and gents, we have a little cottage home:
